This position works with a culturally diverse population and in conjunction with Mental Health Counselors and Clinical Psychologists to support program participants.

Description

We are currently seeking volunteer Parent Advocates to provide support to caregivers and families. The Parent Advocate must be able to express and share personal experiences to support and assist families in overcoming day-to-day challenges. This position works with a culturally diverse population and in conjunction with Mental Health Counselors and Clinical Psychologists to support program participants.

Personal qualities include being dynamic, energetic, collaborative, and a team member focused on providing administrative assistance to one or more departments for the organization.

Experience:

  • Must be the parent or primary caregiver of a child or youth
  • Experience with locating support services for children and families
  • Confident utilizing office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Tech savvy (must be comfortable and familiar with using a computer, laptop, etc.)

Responsibilities: (includes but not limited to)

  • Responds to emails in a professional manner
  • Serves as a parent representative to the program
  • Provides assistance and support to caregivers and families
  • Develops relationships with community resources

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Organized with time management skills
  • Relevant skills in exercising initiative, good judgment and sound decision-making
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Works well independently or in a team setting

MHRCET strives to deliver services and support necessary to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and adults with mental illness and addictive disorders.
