Description

We are currently seeking a volunteer Peer Support Specialist to work directly with caregivers and families. The Peer Support Specialist will provide resources, build relationships, mentor, and assist in setting goals. This position works with a culturally diverse population and in conjunction with the Meeting Facilitator to support program participants.

Personal qualities include being dynamic, energetic, collaborative, and a team member focused on providing administrative assistance to one or more departments for the organization.

Experience:

  • Masters/Bachelors degree in Psychology
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Experience with mental health and/or addiction
  • Experience with locating relevant support services
  • Group facilitation (desired)

Responsibilities: (includes but not limited to)

  • Responds to emails in a professional manner
  • Helps engage individuals in the process of MHRCET programs and services
  • Assists with group planning and development
  • Curriculum design, development, and review
  • Training peer support staff/volunteers
  • Develops relationships with community resources

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Organized with time management skills
  • Relevant skills in exercising initiative, good judgment and sound decision-making
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Works well independently or in a team setting
  • Confident utilizing office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Tech savvy (must be comfortable and familiar with using a computer, laptop, etc.)

  • Cost and Time Consciousness – Must know how to manage time and prioritize activities

  • Maintains a secure and trusting environment as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
